Metamorphs

In a world where young people often feel disconnected from their parents, I set out to explore what could happen if we looked more closely at each other’s experiences, creating a visual collage publication - ‘Metamorphs’. It is set out to explore an altered reality of my parents’ youth by morphing it with my own, one existing in 2024. This publication is visually supported by USSR-inspired movie posters for the purpose of nostalgia and re-inventing painting-like illustration style.

Through the process of remixing old photographs, I’ve become curious to the concept of mundane things my parents would do if they were my age in 2024. I wanted to see what questions would arise and what intricacies could be revealed in this creative process. The project is not just a journey of discovery, but also an invitation to connect with my past and better understand my present.

My goal for ‘Metamorphs’ was and is to get others to take the time to connect with their loved ones and share their stories, ask questions and take time for consideration.
